Forest School
Forest School is a child-centred, inspirational learning process that offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions. It is a long-term program that supports play, exploration and supported risk taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting.
At St. John's we ensure all children throughout our school have access to Forest School sessions led by a fully trained Forest School practitioner, Mrs Westby. The sessions provide outdoor learning experience in our wooded 'mound' environment that foster confidence, self-esteem, communication skills, resilience and holistic development (physical, social, emotional, and intellectual) through practical, supported risk-taking and problem-solving. It encourages connection with nature and a greater appreciation for the environment, leading to deeper learning and motivation for many children.
